gimme-five is switching hosts

Saturday, May 27th, 2006

After gimme-five went down for just under 24 consecutive hours since yesterday, I’ve decided that we’re going to switch webhosts.  Our current webhost is blazernetwork.com, who is terribly unreliable.  Our mySQL database goes down for hours at a time at least once every two weeks and sometimes the entire server goes down for extended periods of time.  I didn’t pay money to have a website that goes down all the time.
They guarantee 99.9% uptime or your money back, so I’d better get a refund… I’ll keep you all updated.

Out of Town

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

I will be out of town from today until Sunday evening.  I am traveling up to New Jersey with my girlfriend to her relatives and my relatives along the way.  I will probably not have a chance to check gimme-five or my email, but you can send fan mail to george AT this domain dot com and I’ll maybe respond if I get around to it.  Peace out until then!

Out of the Office

Friday, March 17th, 2006

Hey everybody, I will be unable to post for a few days (not that a lack of posting is very surprising). I’m running my first marathon ever on Sunday in Virginia Beach, and my girlfriend and mom will be in town for a while so I’d like to spend some time with them.

Anyways, I hope somebody else posts an article in my absence, but I doubt it. Rock on until I return, friends!

Comments did not transfer

Monday, March 6th, 2006

I transferred all of the old articles onto the site, but the old comments did not transfer. I will work on that when I get some time, I’m off to a doctor’s appointment now, however. Keep it real everybody.

Gimme-five is fixed

Sunday, March 5th, 2006

Ok, gimme-five is fixed. However, it is not 100% fixed. For example, I have not taught any of the authors how to post to gimme-five on our new setup.

The good news is, none of the other authors, except Kilgore and occasionally Steve, write anything.
